Dianela Acosta

Dianela is a classically trained singer and the Founder and Executive Director of Boulder Opera. She has performed extensively in New York, and especially enjoyed being part of children's operas with The Amato Opera and the Dicapo Opera where she sang in La Cenerentola, Carmen, Madame Butterfly, and The Magic Flute. She also draws from her experience working with Cabaret Otaku in Denver, a local opera company that specializes in bringing fully-staged works to restaurants and other venues. She lives in Boulder with her husband and two young children.

Trained in a Opera Performance at Manhattan School of Music (M.M.) in New York City, Joshua South has sung and taught professionally for 15 years in New York, in opera houses on the East coast, and around the world.  

Career highlight performances include a Carnegie Hall debut with the New York Philharmonic, performances at Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall, Sarasota Opera, Opera North, and also with such notable performers as Paul McCartney, Julie Taymor, Kelsey Grammer, Kelly O'Hara, and Brian Dennehy.  

Described as "unforgettable" by the New York Times, Joshua has toured to Brazil, Italy, China, and Austria, performing with world-renowned symphonies in esteemed venues. 

New to Boulder, Colorado, Joshua is pleased to open a new voice studio to serve the front range. 

Joshua is a proud member of Actors Equity (AEA), Screen Actors Guild SAG/AFTRA, and the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).

Steven enjoys his various roles as a vocal coach, conductor, recitalist, and répétiteur. He has served on the faculties and coaching staffs of the Manhattan School of Music, Centro Studi Lirica (Italy), Metropolitan State University of Denver, and Crested Butte Music Festival. Mr. Aguiló-Arbues not only works with Inside the Orchestra as an associate conductor, but he is also the associate music director for The Renaissance Project Choir, performs regularly with the Central City Opera Ensemble Artists, and has been on Opera Colorado’s music staff since 2008. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Colorado and a Master of Music degree and Professional Studies Certificate from the Manhattan School of Music.

Lauren Sawyer is a dramatic soprano who has performed grand opera all over the world in cities such as Berlin, Germany, New York City, Los Angeles and recently with members of the Symphonique Orchestre de Montreal.  An accomplished vocal technician, Lauren runs a voice studio, Boulder Classical Voice, in Boulder and New York City, where her students are attending some of the top conservatories in the country: Eastman School of Music, Oberlin and Berklee School of Music.  Her students are finalists in international competitions, such as The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Classical Singer Competition, Schmidt Youth Competition, and are singing in major opera houses and symphonies that include Washington National Opera, Central City Opera, Virginia Opera, Sarasota Opera, Anchorage Opera,  Fairbanks Opera, New York Lyric Opera, Anchorage Symphony, Colorado Symphony and Boulder Symphony. . As founder of Boulder Music Institute, a local professional development summer program, her passion is helping singers develop a strong vocal technique so that they can be creatively expressive with their instrument. Her relationships with talent agencies and opera houses in the United States and Europe have helped many singers launch their careers.  Her husband, Greg, and daughters, Elizabeth, Kimberly and Aria are her inspiration and the great loves of her life.
